TriMedx Celebrates 10 Years Managing Medical Equipment

Former hospital engineering department now serves 500 customers nationwide

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 18, 2009) - TriMedx, a leader in medical equipment management, recently celebrated 10 years serving healthcare providers. The idea born at St.Vincent Health in Indianapolis originally dubbed Technology Management Concepts became incorporated as TriMedx in 1999. Since then TriMedx has saved customers more than $125 million by concentrating on cost reduction, containment and elimination through people, processes and technology.

Founded by former biomedical technician Greg Ranger who currently serves as president and CEO, TriMedx evolved from startup to a $150 million company competing for customers against equipment manufacturers such as GE, Philips and Siemens.

"One major advantage for TriMedx customers is that we are not an equipment manufacturer. As a result, clients receive unbiased statistics and trending data on the type of equipment that works best to achieve their specific business goals," said Ranger. "By training on-site technicians and engineers exorbitant equipment service contracts are significantly reduced or virtually eliminated."

Managing 400,000 medical devices gives TriMedx vital business intelligence such as spend analysis that aids healthcare decisionmakers in budgeting and strategic planning. This proprietary knowledge allows TriMedx experts to help hospitals optimize revenue streams, develop more robust regulatory compliance programs, evaluate total cost of ownership, predict equipment lifecycle performance - while improving clinical staff satisfaction and increasing patient safety.

To commemorate its 10th anniversary, the company is celebrating previous success while looking forward with optimism for the next decade and beyond. Notable achievements of the past 10 years include:

  • saving $100+ million for the nation's largest nonprofit health network
  • launching Axess Ultrasound, a former TriMedx business unit, as a separate entity which is now a $10 million organization with thousands of customers of its own
  • creating the TriMedx Foundation, which supports medical missions in 18 developing countries around the world

"Healthcare continues to grow increasingly complex. TriMedx serves as a strategic partner to simplify and streamline medical equipment management so healthcare providers can focus on patient care," said Linda LeBlanc, senior vice president. "The current economic challenges provide the perfect opportunity to collaborate with TriMedx to raise the standard of healthcare at home and abroad."
