Zoll Defibrillator Installed in Indy

Indianapolis, IN (January 20, 2002)- St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Services in Indianapolis is in the process of standardizing to the Zoll Biphasic Defibrillator. The biphasic technology has just recently been made available. This technology will allow the clinicians to achieve the same results as before, but with less power, resulting in better efficacy and less trauma to the patient.

The cardiology service line, which encompasses approximately half of the Indianapolis St. Vincent facility, has purchased the Zoll defibrillator. TriMedx is in the process of training associates and editing policies and procedures on this equipment before they are put into service.

The manager of the Clinical Engineering department at St. Vincent Hospitals and Healthcare Services, Gary Short, has developed a Request for Proposal, which stipulates details on service, warranty, training, parts, etc. Part of the agreement with Zoll is that this standardization will be promoted to all Ascension Health facilities that are affiliated with TriMedx, upon completion of a one-year probation period. The terms of the purchase agreement will also be valid for any other Ascension Health facility.
