TriMedx Expands Parts Sourcing Services

Indianapolis, IN (May 20, 2003) - TriMedx launched its new TriMedx Parts Sourcing service in April 2003, after achieving notable success as part of the company's standard healthcare equipment management program.

Two years ago, TriMedx implemented a full time parts sourcing program to serve as a resource for second sourcing expensive or hard to locate medical equipment parts. In addition to generating substantial cost savings, the program created a central database of vendor and manufacturer information that could be utilized by TriMedx's twelve service centers and their customers.

In FY 2002, TriMedx parts sourcing exceeded its projected savings by 66% and realized a sourcing success rate of 79%. The program reached its objectives by utilizing volume discounts and employing the expertise of clinical engineering technicians.

"Our technicians have always been good at finding alternative sources for parts. We simply created a central function, staffed with their peers, to bring it all together. The cost savings has exceeded our wildest expectations," said Ron Tocco, Director of Materials Management for TriMedx.

The success of the program led TriMedx to carve out its parts sourcing services as a separate offering to healthcare facilities that do not currently utilize TriMedx's other medical equipment management services.

TriMedx Parts Sourcing procures medical equipment parts from several sources such as:

  • New OEM parts
  • Factory refurbished parts
  • Vendor
  • refurbished parts
  • Vendor engineered replacement parts
  • Used parts
