Newly-Formed TriMedx Foundation Improves Lives in Impoverished Countries by Repairing and Maintaining Critical Medical Equipment
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The TriMedx Foundation was recently formed to assist medical mission projects in third-world countries. Historically, charitable organizations that sponsored these medical missions lacked the necessary resources to provide the equipment services needed at mission hospitals. TriMedx, a healthcare equipment services company, sends highly-trained associates to help with critical medical equipment setup, maintenance, and training.
Although donated medical equipment makes its way to mission hospitals, where it is greatly needed, the equipment is not always operational when it arrives. Much of the equipment is of little use until the technical experts from TriMedx travel to these sites and evaluate the equipment, repair it, and train hospital staff on how to use and maintain it. Over the past several years, TriMedx has also collected donated medical equipment and supplies for these missions.
TriMedx technicians have visited mission hospitals such as Sacred Heart Hospital in Milot, Haiti, and Saint Vicente' in Cochabomba, Bolivia, as well as hospitals in Ecuador and Kenya. These hospitals desperately need medical equipment services, so the volunteer technicians provided through the TriMedx Foundation are not only greatly appreciated, but they help save and improve lives. To date, TriMedx has assisted with 27 mission trips, and contributed over 3,000 hours of time to these efforts.
"Many of the hospitals have received good equipment that can still provide a lot of assistance to the people of these communities, if it is properly set up and maintained. Before establishing the TriMedx Foundation, our company made a significant impact on getting this sometimes critical medical equipment working, but it was on a smaller scale. We envisioned doing more than that. Now, through the Foundation, we have the opportunity to expand our mission work, help additional organizations, and most importantly, touch the lives of people who need medical care," stated TriMedx Foundation Executive Director, Ron Tocco. Tocco has managed TriMedx's charity care projects since the first mission trip to Milot, Haiti in 1999. Establishing a Foundation dedicated to clinical engineering charitable services abroad was a personal aspiration for him.
TriMedx President, Greg Ranger, was the driving force behind the TriMedx Foundation, and he worked closely with Tocco in developing the business proposal and determining the direction for this unique charity organization. "Establishing the TriMedx Foundation ensures that these medical equipment services will continue regardless of the course TriMedx may take in the future. Now, we are realizing a vision that we set for our company when it started. This is truly a spiritual venture for TriMedx and our associates."
The TriMedx Foundation solicits funds to support biomedical, imaging, and laboratory technicians traveling to medical mission sites to repair and maintain medical devices. While TriMedx fully funds its associates' salaries during mission trips, donations support travel expenses and help pay for repair parts and supplies. The TriMedx Foundation welcomes assistance and equipment donations from medical equipment manufacturers, vendors, and healthcare facilities.
