5 can’t-miss stops at AAMI eXchange 2025

TRIMEDX President of Clinical Engineering Rob Moorey was recently featured in a 24x7 Magazine article about what attendees can expect from TRIMEDX at AAMI eXchange in New Orleans this year. The full article, as it appeared on April 4, 2025, is below.

AAMI eXchange is set to draw more than 2,500 healthcare technology management (HTM) professionals to New Orleans from June 20–23 for immersive learning, skill-building, and connections with the people and companies driving innovation in the field.

This year’s expo hall will feature over 150 exhibitors showcasing solutions from across the HTM landscape, with opportunities for attendees to engage more deeply through breakout sessions, in-booth demos, and focused programming on topics like artificial intelligencehome health, and equipment management. Other offerings range from an Innovation Hub for short-form vendor presentations to a full-day HTM Leadership Training summit focused on real-world challenges like vendor negotiation, ethics, and team dynamics.

“I just love seeing folks in the field coming together to explore the latest technology on the exhibit floor and hear sessions on some of the hottest topics in HTM,” says Danielle McGeary, vice president of HTM at AAMI. “It’s a great event to stay current and connect with peers across the profession.”

Additional programming includes keynote presentations, a high school career fair, and live podcast interviews recorded on the show floor. With a full schedule over four days, attendees may need to pick and choose where to spend their time. Here are five can’t-miss stops to consider.

1. Startup Pavilion

A new addition to AAMI eXchange is the Startup Pavilion, a dedicated space on the expo floor for emerging HTM companies to introduce their products and services. Designed for startups that are less than three years old and have not previously exhibited at AAMI eXchange, the pavilion offers a more accessible way for these early-stage companies to have a presence without the cost of a full booth.

Two of this year’s confirmed participants—MedServ Marketplace and MedGrocery—are bringing fresh ideas to the showfloor.

MedServ Marketplace

MedServ Marketplace is aiming to become the “Uber for healthcare technicians” with an AI-powered platform that connects hospitals, surgery centers, and other healthcare facilities with certified biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs) and field service engineers (FSEs).

“Many hospitals and outpatient facilities struggle with equipment downtime, long service lead times, and limited access to qualified technicians. At the same time, many independent technicians and service organizations face challenges in connecting with healthcare facilities in need of their services,” says Viraj Shah, founder and CEO. “We saw an opportunity to create a two-sided marketplace powered by AI—one that efficiently matches qualified professionals with facilities, streamlines credentialing and compliance, and enhances service transparency.”

MedServ Marketplace is currently in soft launch in Nashville, Tenn, and plans to expand into Dallas, Texas; Tampa Bay, Fla; and Boston, Mass, this year. At AAMI eXchange, the team will demonstrate how its model facilitates access to certified support, reduces downtime, and lowers service costs, while also presenting case studies highlighting successful service events.

MedGrocery

MedGrocery launched in April 2023 with a mission to simplify how healthcare facilities source essential medical equipment accessories and parts. Smiral Shah, a stay-at-home mom turned entrepreneur, co-founded the minority, woman-owned company after witnessing the supply chain disruptions and equipment shortages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Smiral Shah co-founded MedGrocery after witnessing critical supply challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I saw firsthand how the right tools and resources make all the difference in patient care,” Shah says. “It became very clear that healthcare providers needed a reliable partner that could deliver essential accessories and parts.”

Today, the web-based platform serves more than 22 states, supplying hospitals, EMS providers, vet clinics, and surgery centers with a mix of new, refurbished, and hard-to-find original equipment manufacturer parts, including obsolete components. MedGrocery also uses AI to anticipate customer needs by analyzing shopping patterns and forecast demand to optimize inventory levels.

At AAMI eXchange, the team will showcase product samples and highlight catalog offerings.

2. AR/VR Theater

Now in its fourth year, the AR/VR Theater is returning as one of the most interactive stops on the AAMI eXchange showfloor. Presented in partnership with AAMI, NRG Technologies, the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology, and NVRT Labs, the space highlights how extended reality (XR) tools are being applied to both technical training and clinical care.

Attendees can try XR headsets loaded with immersive simulations of common biomedical procedures, including pump servicing, EKGs, and patient monitors. New this year are modules focused on radiology and fluoroscopy.

“In an age defined by revolutionary advancements, the AR/VR Theater stands out as a significant educational resource for attendees,” says Richard L. “Monty” Gonzales, president of the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology. “It’s not merely a booth where you collect business cards; it’s a transformative experience that immerses participants in scenarios they face in their work.”

NVRT Labs plans to debut a live Biomed AI demonstration and a new slate of XR-based games. “While we intend to recreate a lot of what made a successful expo last year, we are hoping to take it up a level this year with even more audience engagement games,” says Matthew Bassuk, founder and CEO of NVRT Labs. “Last year’s virtual cornhole and basketball were a huge draw and got people out of their shells. This year, the team has some really fun games up their sleeve.”

Beyond entertainment, the demonstrations are intended to show HTM professionals how immersive tech supports hands-on training. According to Bassuk, institutions like the University of California, San Francisco and St. Petersburg College adopted XR tools for training after first encountering them at AAMI.

3. Keynote: Expanding Into Untapped Markets

On Sunday morning, Jinesh Patel, co-founder and CEO of UptimeHealth, will take the main stage to challenge attendees to think beyond traditional service settings. In his keynote, “Expanding Horizons: How Biomedical Technicians Can Diversify and Capture New Markets,” Patel will explore how HTM professionals can extend their reach into adjacent verticals like dentistry, veterinary care, and med spa environments—areas often overlooked in standard biomed career pathways.

“We’re trying to show people how to think about cross-training technicians and entering into these markets where there’s less competition, and you may be able to generate more revenue,” Patel says. “The concept of the keynote is…not just saying, ‘do it,’ but will I provide the ‘how do you do it.’”

He’ll spotlight how recent efforts—including a new dental repair technician program developed by UptimeHealth and the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology—are beginning to break down training barriers that have historically prevented entry into new markets. Patel sees these emerging programs as key opportunities for HTM professionals to explore tools, certifications, and equipment beyond their typical scope.

He describes the keynote as an opportunity to get ahead of industry shifts. “It’s going to expose people to the way that everyone’s starting to think,” he says. “This is the first time we’re presenting an opportunity of how to go get more business and how to help grow into a next vertical that the market’s moving towards.”

4. Women in Leadership Reception

What started as a grassroots idea in late 2023 has grown into a formal community within AAMI. The Women in Leadership (WIL) group, created to support and connect women in HTM, now includes more than 550 members.

“One of the biggest challenges women face in our industry is just the lack of diversity and how few women truly are in HTM,” says April Lebo, WIL board member and vice president of demand generation at Probo Medical. “WIL hopes to be a sounding board…to ask questions, seek advice, garner training, and work with a mentor—or simply be a space to inspire and motivate each other so no one feels alone.”

Women currently make up just 9% of the HTM workforce, according to McGeary—a gap WIL aims to help close by fostering support and visibility for women in the field.

At this year’s AAMI eXchange, WIL will host a networking reception, along with an educational session beforehand. The group became an official part of the AAMI community in January 2025, following its first networking event at last year’s conference. WIL members will be easy to spot at the event, wearing blue WIL pins and badge banners. Attendees interested in joining can connect with members onsite.

“More than anything, I want the attendees to leave inspired, motivated, and full of energy,” Lebo says. “We are stronger together, so the best takeaway is being a positive influence for someone else and helping them be the best version of themselves.”

5. New Products and Booth Highlights

Attendees can expect new product launches, hands-on demos, and in-booth panels throughout this year’s expo hall. Among the many exhibitors, FSI and TRIMEDX offer examples of companies showcasing new tools and formats.

At FSI’s booth, attendees can try out Flow, an automation feature built to simplify complex workflows, and FSI Inbox, a mobile app that streamlines work order completion for technicians on the go. Both were developed in response to staffing shortages and workload demands.

“What we’re seeing from our customers and feel is that there are less people to do the same amount of work—or maybe more work—with the needs of making sure everything is documented,” says Jen D’Alessio, product manager at FSI.

TRIMEDX, meanwhile, is offering new in-booth panel discussions on topics like HTM technologies, women in HTM, and career path planning. “These will provide valuable insights from experts, experienced BMETs, and industry influencers,” says Rob Moorey, president of clinical engineering at TRIMEDX. “Attendees will leave the panels more informed about trends, opportunities, and the latest technologies in HTM.”

With more than 150 exhibitors on the floor, these examples reflect just a portion of what attendees can expect. A range of tools, services, and technologies will be available to explore throughout the expo hall.
