TRIMEDX Senior Vice President of Cybersecurity Scott Trevino was recently featured on a Techstrong.TV episode on why the connected hospital has become a tempting threat for cybercriminals.
Within the broader Internet of Things ecosystem, the fast-growing Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) has significant implications for our healthcare systems. With 70% of all medical devices in hospitals expected to be network-connected within the next few years, the IoMT has ushered in a new era of cybersecurity threats for providers and patients alike. Bad actors can render devices—cardiac monitors, insulin pumps, and the like—unusable for patient care, prompting facilities to shut down, or worse, putting patients’ lives at risk. Reducing risk requires greater attention to medical device management, specifically device patching, recall management, and repairs.
